Sandtrix
More games to play
Sandtrix is a free browser puzzle game that puts a sand-physics twist on classic Tetris. Falling pieces shatter into loose sand on landing, and your job is to align matching colors into a solid horizontal line to clear the board. Play it free with no download or sign-up. It runs on desktop and mobile, so it works at school or work wherever browser games are allowed.
What is Sandtrix?
Sandtrix (also called Sandtris or Sand Tetris) is a 2D puzzle game built around one key idea: blocks do not stack rigidly like in Tetris. Each piece crumbles into individual sand pixels the moment it touches the pile. You then have to coax the resulting loose grains into a full left-to-right color band. Get a complete row of one color and the pixels vanish, earning you points. The game went viral on TikTok under several names, which is why you may have seen it before without knowing the title.

Modes and scoring
Sandtrix has three modes, each rewarding a different style of play.
| Mode | Goal | Time limit |
|---|---|---|
| Endless | Clear sand until the pile reaches the top | None |
| High-score (3 min) | Score as many points as possible | 3 minutes |
| Clear 40 | Clear exactly 40 rows without failing | None |
Difficulty and combo system
Three difficulty settings control both the game speed and the available play space. Easy gives you the full grid at a manageable pace. Medium and hard shrink the usable area and raise the drop speed, making color alignment much harder to manage.
Scoring rewards speed. Each cleared pixel earns one point. Clear another row before the combo meter empties and the multiplier grows, up to a maximum of 10x. Keeping a combo streak running is the fastest way to build a high score in the 3-minute mode.
Tips for clearing rows faster
- Start on easy difficulty and stay there until combos feel natural.
- Watch where the sand settles after a piece lands. Heavier grains fall to the lowest gap, so the final pile shape is never exactly the piece shape.
- Prioritize pieces that fill color gaps rather than reaching for big drops.
- In Clear 40 mode, there is no time pressure, so slow down and plan two or three pieces ahead.
- Hard mode limits the play area, so every misplaced piece compounds quickly. Master the physics on easy before moving up.
